Mount Pleasant (Mich.) postcards slide collection, 1908,1986.

Slide collection made from Mount Pleasant (Mich.) postcards, dating from 1908-1970s, created by Benford in 1986. The slides are in color and black and white, and divided into the following Mount Pleasant (Mich.) topics: Buildings and houses (24); Central Michigan University (CMU, 47); Downtown (42), which includes some icestorm images; Miscellaneous (24), which includes churches (6), bridges (5), oil-related images (4), trains and depots (2), and general (7); Plants and mills (125); and the U.S. Indian School and other local schools (21). Most of the postcards have handwritten notes, in ink, identifying the image. Some of the images are dated when originally photographed, either on the image or in handwritten notes, in ink. The slides are in very good condition.

The Ann Arbor Railroad began in 1878. The line began in Toledo, Ohio and ran northwest through Ann Arbor to Frankfort and Elberta, Michigan. It was officially incorporated on September 21, 1895. The railroad ran a Great Lakes car ferry service from 1892 to 1982.
